Frodi makes two giant women grind wealth and peace without rest; their work-song changes from obedience into warning until even his throne is spoken as something he will lose.

    They say mud eats at their feet and cold comes from above; turning the foe’s mill makes Frodi’s house bleak.

    The Grinding Turns to Fire and Lost Rule

    The women say their hands will not rest and foretell fire at the stronghold and Frodi’s lost throne.

  8. 08

    The Stone Breaks; the Song Stops at ‘We Have Ground’

    The mill shakes and its heavy stone breaks in two. Fenja and Menja say they have ground enough, and the poem stops there.
