Overview
Grotti is the magic mill at the centre of Grottasongr: what its workers speak, it can grind forth. Frodi wants wealth and peace, so he sets Fenja and Menja before it; when he will not let them rest, the grinding gradually speaks another future. The artifact has no will of its own, yet binds command, forced labour, and the women’s song together. The poem closes with the stone shaking apart and the work declared done, without moving into the surrounding prose’s salt-sea tale.
