Overview
In Hyndluljoth, Hildisvini is the gold-bristled boar Freyja explicitly names. Hyndla instead judges from Freyja’s eyes that Ottar rides with her; Freyja answers by naming the boar and its dwarf makers. The poem never settles the two accounts in a narrator’s voice, so the boar is both a visible mount and the focus of an ambiguous hidden companion.
