Triton
A sea god who appears in the Libyan episode of the Argonauts, guiding the route and receiving a gift.

Overview
Triton is the sea-god guide in the Libyan episode of Apollonius’ Argonautica Book 4. The crew has reached an almost unusable borderland rather than an ordinary harbour; seamanship is no longer enough. Triton receives the heroes’ approach, accepts a gift and restores direction. His value lies in that moment, not in turning every later conch-bearing image of Triton into the same claim.
