Iapetus
A Titan and the father of Atlas and Menoetius.
Overview
Iapetus is a Titan son of Gaia and Uranus who, in Hesiod's genealogy, fathers Atlas, Menoetius, Prometheus and Epimetheus with Clymene. The Titanomachy selects the distinct fates of the first two sons without inferring a particular battlefield action for Iapetus from his parentage alone. This keeps the cross-story genealogy visible while leaving the full Prometheus and human-origins story outside this scene.
