Overview
The Bebryces are the people associated with Amycus on the Argonaut route. Apollonius narrates the Argonauts’ arrival in their land as a conflict centred on boxing, royal coercion and distorted hospitality, while Pseudo-Apollodorus also preserves the stop within the outward voyage. As a collective figure, the Bebryces make the journey more than a list of places. Each landing has local rules, hostile hosts and a test of passage. For the heroes to move on, they must first understand and break the order imposed there.
